There are so many ways to celebrate this season, but it can be so easy to allow yourself to go broke financially if you’re not careful. This doesn’t necessarily have to be the case though. There are multiple activities to partake in by yourself or with family that are sure to keep you cheerful all the while keeping your pocket book fairly full and making others happy as well:
01: Christmas Light Viewing
After the sun sets, bundle the family up, pile them into your vehicle and take a leisurely drive around the neighborhood or your city to enjoy seeing the holiday decorations. Before you head out, you can even ask around to see where the best decorated places might be. Even take to social media to get a heads up on where to drive. If you’re feeling ambitious and the weather permits it, there are some yards and even streets that have walk-through light attractions also.
02: Holiday Movie Night
If you don’t feel like heading out of the house but are looking for a fun, family activity all the same, a holiday movie night might be the way to go. Get the fuzzy pajamas on, grab the cozy blankets, pop some popcorn, make some hot cocoa and vote on what flick to watch. If you wish, make it a double-feature or marathon. Just remember the most important thing is to have fun and make it relaxing.
03: Community Concert
Many places put on community choir concerts or plays this time of year that are free for anyone to attend. Sometimes it’s just nice to sit back and enjoy a bit of free entertainment while supporting your community. Another great thing about this is that most, if not all, of the participants of the production are volunteers who are simply part of it to bring joy to others.
04: Volunteer
If you yourself are wanting to volunteer then do it! There are plenty of opportunities to assist others including helping at a food kitchen, donating gifts, visiting a nursing home or hospital, helping out a local animal shelter or cleaning up around your community.
05: Gym Pass
This one is solely for you and that’s okay too! Many gyms offer one-time free passes or you might be able to obtain one from a family member or friend. This is a great opportunity to check out your local gyms and enjoy some much needed you-time. Some even have hot tubs and saunas where you can make a day of it. Take a break from the holiday rush and all the busy hustle and bustle and merely unwind.
There are so many more ways to enjoy this holiday season without breaking the bank including, holiday cookie decorating, card making and giving, family game night, etc. The opportunities are seemingly endless. What’s more, staying safe and healthy while having fun is key. Please have a wonderful time no matter what it is you choose!
